The core of the Online Writing Log is the Activity Log. This is where you log all your activities that are counted towards goals, challenges, trophies and so on. By default each activity is tracked by entering the date and time of the beginning and the end of each session with a couple of sliders that selects your hour and minute.
However, there is a simpler way. If you prefer to not enter you start and stop time at all, OWL can calculate your session length for you based on word count per minute.
How does this work?
First, go to your Profile Settings by clicking on your profile image at the top right of the screen and then select Profile Settings.
Then, click on Settings and App Settings.
Scroll down to the Words Per Minute option.
If you click the toggle, a text box will be shown where you can enter the number of words you write per minute.
For example, if you write 25 words per minute, that translates into about 1,500 words per hour.
Once you save your preferred word count value, OWL will automatically calculate your session length. For example, if you use the above values and you write 750 words, OWL will set the start of the session to 30 minutes back in time.
If total duration of your activity session isn't that important to you, this is a great way to speed up data entry for your log entries.
